Updated News about HR Internship, ICMICA Federations, Specialized Secretariat, and members, and useful information
This issue bring to you several pieces of information on individuals and on recent developments within ICMICA Federations.
The Pax Romana Human Rights Internship Program ended on May 1 with the two day evaluation of the 58th session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, as well as the Program itself, and the oral presentation of the thematic reports by the interns on various issues. Here is an assessment of the CHR made by our interns in the form of the Commission’s resolution. Your suggestions are most welcome!!!
New ICMICA group in Australia : At the instigation of two university graduates, Mr Quang Minh Nguyen and Ms Rachel Galea, a historic movement for Catholic intellectuals and professionals in Australia was recently revived with broad support from Catholic groups and individuals involved in social change. Their launching conference was held on April 19 and 20, and Bill Neville, former International President of ICMICA (1988 to 1991) was one of the speakers. A useful manual on how to use the Earth Charter for environmental education has been written by Elisabeth Ferrero and Joe Holland, members of ICMICA in USA. It is now available at www.ECreflection4action.org
Mr Yan Rieger was elected the President of SIAC (International Secretariat of Christian Artists) at its Annual Assembly recently held in Luxembourg. He is the first American president in the history of SIAC. SIAC is one of the five specialized secretariats. Big congratulations!!!
