The Inner Room is a community that continuously invites and supports all to enter the deepened prayer space discussed by Jesus in Matthew 6:6.
The Inner Room is a communal space that supports spiritual maturity by directing attention to deepened prayer, theological reflection and loving service to the world. In pursuit of this goal, the Inner Room will:
a) provide a prayer space grounded in the Roman Catholic tradition that cultivates contemplation and results in Eucharistic community;
b) provide a theological space that supports the development of theological discourse that springs forth from contemplation;
c) provide a social justice network that draws on the power of contemplation as a resource for solidarity and loving service.
We are a Roman Catholic lay association composed of professionals and intellectuals focusing on deepening our prayer life, developing our understanding of the spiritual path, and engaging in social justice activities in light of the Social Teachings of the tradition. We seek to be a resource for the Church. We also seek respectful engagement and dialogue with people in all other Churches and Christian communities as well as people in other religious traditions or in no religious tradition at all.
The Inner Room is a non-profit association registered in the State of Connecticut. IRC 501(c)(3) tax exemption status is pending with the federal government. In dialogue with the local Church through the archdiocese of Hartford, CT, we are an association of the faithful, with private juridical personality according to canons 298-311 and 321-329 of the Code of Canon Law.
