A place for teachers to meet
SIESC, founded in 1954 as Secrétariat International des Enseignants Secondaires Catholiques, has developed into a meeting-place for Christian teachers of all denominations and of all forms and levels of schools inEurope. Colleagues of other religions and colleagues without religious denomination are welcome as guests.
SIESC is involved in the developments in the world and in the churches of today. A special concern is the understanding of cultural changes and their effects on teaching in theEurope of today.
SIESC wants to provide a European platform for the objectives of the various national associations of Christian teachers and their members, to promote their co-operation and friendship and to point out the close connection between professional life and religious life.
Its activities
Annual international meetings in summer, every year organized in a different country.
Contact with and participation in the activities of NG0s: Pax Romana-ICMICA (International Catholic Movement of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs) and meetings of international Catholic organizations of education and teaching at Rome.
A half-yearly bulletin in three editions: SIESC-ACTUEL/SIESC-AKTUELL/SIESC-TODAY
The members of SIESC
Members of SIESC are the following associations: for Austria the VCL, for the Czech Republic the UKPCR, for Croatia the HKDPD, for France the CdEP, for Germany the VkdL, for Italy the UCIIM, for Romania the AGRU, for Slovenia the DKPS. There are also associated members of SIESC: for Poland the KIK, for Romania the APGC and for the Slovak Republic the ZKPS. In the activities of SIESC there also participate colleagues from Albania, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine.
Colleagues that are not members of a member association can become individual members of SIESC. They need only address a letter of application to the president of SIESC; it will be examined and accepted by the executive board; the fee for individual membership is 15 EURO at the moment.
